Elevator Maze Designer

The playfield for a lift-the-bar marble game: two motors in the top corners raise a bar on strings, and you tilt it to steer the marble past the holes into the one goal hole at the top.

Settings

Plate

Holes

Plus one goal hole at the top, with an engraved ring around it. Same size as the others.

Text up the sides

Base

Outer sizes of the box. The plate stands in slots in both side plates, so it has to be at least as wide as the base.

The holes sit near the front edge, with the text engraved above each. Leave a field empty for no text.

Advanced settings

Motor holes

The strings hang straight down from here, so the side text goes in the strip outside them.

Spacing

No holes closer to a string than the clearance, and none in the start zone where the bar rests at the beginning.

Hole rings

Rings with the same hole as the plate's holes and two small screw holes on top. They're in the plate's file, next to the plate. Set 0 for none.

Goal

Base: material

Base: behind the box

Slot positions are measured from the back of the box to the front edge of each slot, at the top. The leaning slot tilts back, so its bottom sits a little further forward.

Base: buttons on the top

“From the front edge” is measured to the nearest edge of each hole. The text starts this far above the middle of its hole, so the button's collar clears it; 20 mm leaves room for a collar up to about 33 mm across.

Base: wire holes

One hole at each end of the back wall, right beside the side wall, for the cable from that side's motor.

Layout

Last seed used: –

Changing sizes keeps the current layout's seed; only “Generate new layout” picks a new one (or the seed above, if set).

Preview — plate

The plate on the left, the base pieces (if any) on the right. Black = cut through, blue = engrave, green = the goal. The dashed lines show the strings and the top of the start zone; they're not in the file. Ctrl + scroll (or pinch) to zoom, drag to move around.
